The Chicago Auto Show, the largest in North America, has expanded its horizons since its humble beginnings in 1901. I am not referring to mechanical, electrical, or spatial adaptations, but philosophical changes. Manufacturers, dealers, and exhibitors have acknowledged and responded to the growing purchasing power and expanding role of women in the Automotive industry, and decided to organize a full day of events and programming for the Chicago Auto Show’s annual Women’s Day on Tuesday, Feb. 13th. For starters, women are also offered a reduced entry ticket price of $7.00 per person.
To kick things off, Emily Miller of “Rebelle Rally,” an off-road competition for women, will be the keynote speaker. She will encourage women to become ‘masters of the road – both in their personal and professional lives’. This will be followed by exclusive test track experiences at Camp Jeep, Kia SUV Gym, and at the Toyota Camry course, and prize drawings when Scotty Reiss, founder of “A Girls Guide to Cars,” gives a show tour beginning at 10 a.m.
Chicago Woman Magazine will host #DrivingWomen in the afternoon, followed by fun-filled evening of women connecting, networking, and inspiring each other. The evening events include:
- 5:30 p.m. – “Networking with a Purpose” session with complimentary wine from Trinchero Family Estates and appetizers
- 6:30 p.m. – Fireside chat with Anna Valencia, City Clerk, City of Chicago and Kendra Chaplin, publisher of Chicago Woman Magazine
- 7:15 p.m. – Panel discussion called “Courage, Grit and Leadership” featuring Ana Dutra, president and CEO of the Executives’ Club of Chicago; Cheryle R. Jackson, vice president of global business development, AAR; and Mindy MacKenzie, speaker, CEO advisor and author of The Courage Solution
The 2018 Chicago Auto Show is open daily 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Feb. 10th-18th, and 10 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19th. For more information about the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, please visit www.chicagoautoshow.com.
