C-Max
C-you; this hybrid is gone.
EcoSport
A Black Appearance Package is offered, with a black painted roof and black hood decal. FordPass Connect replaces SYNC offering some new connectivity features including compatibility with Amazon's Alexa.
Edge
A refresh front and rear leaves the Edge with a new look. Bi-LED headlights with separate low and high beams are new and standard on all models as are LED taillights. LED fog lights are now offered, standard on SEL and above.
The 3.5 V6 is discontinued, leaving the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder as the standard engine. The Edge Sport gets a boost of 20 horsepower and a new name: Edge ST. Both engines get a new 8-speed automatic (up from 6). Fuel mileage is up on all variants, thanks to the new transmission and engine start/stop technology now standard across the board.
Ford Co-Pilot 360 is the new standard safety suite, including automatic high beams, post-collision braking, Blind Spot Information System, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Keeping System and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. Co-Pilot 360 Assist Plus is available and includes Evasive Steering Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Navigation.
Rain-sensing wipers, satellite radio, AppLink, keyless entry keypad and an automatic dimming rearview mirror are now standard. The rearview camera now includes a washer.
On the inside a new rotary gearshift replaces the lever. A wireless charging pad is offered.
Escape
SYNC 3, Remote Start and Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start are now standard on SE and SEL models.
Expedition
The rear air-conditioning temperature is now independent, making the system tri-zone temperature control. Some content of packages is shuffled.
Explorer
Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keeping Assist and Forward Collision Warning are now also optional on XLT as well as HomeLink remote control. Blind Spot Information System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are now available on all but Base model Explorers.
A new appearance package is offered on XLT called "Desert Copper" with 20-inch polished wheels, chrome and leather trim.
The BIG changes are coming for 2020: a return to rear-wheel drive, 400 horsepower twin-turbo V6 and a hybrid.
F-150
The F-150 gains an edge in safety equipment: Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Brakin and Automatic High Beams are standard across the board. Except for the Toyota Tundra these are optional equipment on other full-size pickups. The Nissan Titan doesn't offer these systems. Last year these were only available as option on high trim levels. The 3.5 Twin Turbo High Output V6 is now not exclusive to the Raptor; the F-150 Limited now offers the 450-horsepower and 510 pounds-feet of torque.
Raptor
Speaking of the Raptor, it gets new shocks that are electronically adjustable and constantly change their valving depending on steering, acceleration and braking sensors. Trail Control is a type of cruise control that can hold very slow speeds. New Recaro seats "inspired by the Ford GT" round out the changes.
F-Super Duty
The mammoth F-450 is now available in a regular cab configuration, with up to 35,000 pounds of towing. Available in XL and XLT trim levels, the F-450 extra cab only comes in dual-rear wheels, in either 4x2 or 4x4.
Fiesta
Some people like all the flash without the dash. For those who love the looks of the hot hatch Fiesta ST but don't want the extra ponies, the new Fiesta ST-Line Hatchback includes a spoiler, blacked-out roof, side ground effects and the front grille from the Fiesta ST. Available in automatic or manual transmission, it makes the perfect inverse sleeper with its standard 120 horsepower 1.6-liter 4-cylinder.
The Titanium is discontinued as is the S Hatch.
All these are dead-men walking as Ford has indicated that the Mustang will be the only Ford passenger car soon.
Flex
No changes. It's model year started early and it hasn't been refreshed since 2013, so this might actually be its last year.
Focus
Dead. An all-new Focus crossover was coming, but it may be cancelled because of trade wars with China, where it was to be built.
Fusion
The Fusion gets a face-lift for 2019, possibly its last year. A refined, chrome grille, new bumpers but especially the fascia and the foglight openings have been changed.
Ford Co-Pilot 360™ is a new standard package of active safety features on the Fusion. Standard on all levels, it includes automatic high beams, blind spot warning, Lane-Keeping System, Pre-Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking and a rear view camera. Rain-sensing wipers are also now standard on all models. Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control and navigation are also now available on Fusion S.
The Fusion Platinum is no longer made. Fusion SEL is a new trim between SE and Titanium.
Fusion Hybrid
The Fusion Hybrid S is gone, leaving the SE as the entry-level model. The Platinum is also gone, leaving the Titanium on top. In the middle, a new SEL trim nestles between SE and Titanium. Recap: Fusion Hybrid SE, SEL and Titanium is the lineup for 2019.
As on the standard Fusion, automatic high beams, blind spot warning, Lane-Keeping System, Pre-Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking and rain-sensing wipers are now all standard. Reverse Sensing System, navigation, satellite radio, 10-way power driver's seat and 6-way power front passenger seat are also now standard.
The Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid loses the SE and Platinum models on both ends, leaving the Titanium.
GT
New livery (paint and graphics) are all that are new each year. This year a Heritage Edition with paint and graphics that evoke the Gulf Oil sponsored race cars that beat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of LeMans.
Mustang
The new Safe & Smart Package includes automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support and Rain Sensitive Wipers, all now available on base models; previously only offered on Premium.
The Active Valve Exhaust system, introduced for 2018 on the Mustang GT is now an $895 option on the EcoBoost engined Mustang. Active Valve Exhaust has four different loudness/power setting, including quiet, normal, sport and track. The really innovative part: timed automatic settings. You can set times in the vehicle menu for quiet mode so you don't have to remember to change the setting when you leave for work at 6:30 AM or you're getting home at midnight.
Ranger
The Ranger was first introduced for the 1983 model year and made it all the way to 2012. However, just because the U.S. didn't have a Ford Ranger after 2012 didn't mean it was dead. The compact Ford pickup was quite alive and well throughout Asia and South America.
The 2019 Ranger is a whole new truck. For the first time it is designated as a mid-size, not a compact truck. It will come in only two body-styles: crew cab (SuperCrew) and extended cab (SuperCab), both with forward-facing rear seats seating three and two, respectively. The SuperCrew gets a five-foot bed and the SuperCab gets a six-foot.
There is only one engine and transmission: a 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder rated at 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque coupled to a ten-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard and a four-wheel drive system is a $4000 add-on.
Safety system are robust, especially compared to the old Ranger; Advance-TRAC stability control, antilock brakes, forward collision warning and Automatic Emergency Braking are all standard, as are frontal, front seat side-mounted and two-row side curtain head airbags. Ford Co-Pilot360 is optional, including blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, automatic high-beams, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist and Trailer Tow Monitoring, which extends the blind spot monitoring to include the trailer so you don't accidentally sideswipe someone with your cabin cruiser. You have to set the trailer length manually for the last one to work properly.
Shelby GT350
Michelin will customize Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires specifically for the GT350 as Ford recalibrates its suspension and chassis. The biggest changes are to the aerodynamics package, where an optional Gurney flap (an upsweep to the rear of the spoiler) improves downforce considerably, making the car more stable in the corners.
People expecting the GT350 to get the sheetmetal of the refreshed 2018 Mustang will be disappointed. Ford reports the Shelby buyers like the older metal; it's more likely that tweaking the refreshed metal would have set them back on the racetrack.
2020 Shelby GT500
The bigger performance news is the return of the GT500 for the 2020 model year. Don't expect less than 700 horsepower.
Taurus
No changes.
Transit
The optional alternator is larger: 250-amps. A wider-opening rear door hinge is standard. Cutaways and chassis cabs (used for customs) can now be ordered with running boards. Laminated side glass is available on some models, improving protection against theft. More seating configurations are offered for passenger versions: 5, 10, 11 and 14-passenger. Still offered in 8, 12 and 15-passenger versions.
Transit Connect
The smaller Ford van gets a refresh with a new grille, headlights, bumpers and a freshened interior. Length is up by half an inch.
Mechanically, the Transit Connect will offer a new 1.5-liter turbo diesel later, probably with excellent fuel mileage. This will be the only engine available in the short wheelbase passenger van.
In the meantime, a new, smaller 2.0-liter gasoline 4-cylinder with direct fuel injection offers 150 horsepower and better fuel mileage. It is coupled with an eight-speed automatic shared with the new Ford Edge. The 2.5-liter is still an option with the 6-speed automatic, but only for fleet customers.
In the cargo version new double doors replace the liftgate; the liftgate is available as an option.
Forward Collision Warning (with pedestrian detection) and Automatic Emergency Braking are new for the Transit Connect and standard on all models. Backup camera, daytime running lights and Bluetooth are now standard.
A Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping System, a Driver Impairment Monitor (detects inattention or drowsiness by monitoring how well the driver keeps the vehicle in the center of the lane) and automatic high beams are part of a new option package: Driver Assist Package, available on all models. Adaptive cruise control is also available, now.
XL cargo vans offer a lot of options previously reserved for XLT: Navigation, Blind Spot Information System with rear cross-traffic warning, automatic dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights and the Reverse Sensing System (rear parking sonar). XLT cargo van now comes standard with rain-sensitive automatic wipers and optional HID headlights are offered on XLT cargo van, XLT and Titanium passenger van.
Dual zone automatic climate control is now standard on the Transit Connect Wagon.
