Integra

Coming soon as a 2023 model, the Integra returns.

MDX

After skipping model year 2021, the MDX is new for 2022. Changes include a new double-wishbone suspension replacing front struts; a 10-speed automatic replaces the previous 9-speed, and the middle seat of the second seating row is now removable.

Fuel mileage is down one MPG almost across the board as weight increases over 200 pounds and Acura changes to an emphasis on performance.

Entirely new sheet metal includes a thankfully smaller grille, new headlights, bumpers, wheels, and all of the usual design evolution. The wheelbase (113.8 inches) is almost three inches longer, the body is over two inches longer and an inch wider. Track widths are also almost two inches wider than 2020.

On the inside, this translates to almost 5% more passenger space and over 4% more maximum cargo volume. Headroom, legroom, shoulder room, and hip room are all larger in the first row. Legroom and shoulder room are larger in the second row. Headroom, legroom, and shoulder room are all larger in the third row.

Acura Link Connected Services, Blind spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, and HD radio are now standard. Automatic dimming side view mirrors are no longer offered.

Type S

A new Type S uses the same engine as the TLX Type S, a 3.0 turbocharged V6 with 355 horsepower. The new engine only comes with Acura's Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive and the 10-speed automatic the base MDX uses. Bigger front brakes are also part of the Type S, with 14.3-inch front rotors and red "Acura" branded calipers.

Hybrid

The hybrid model is gone, at least for the time being.

NSX

On its final year out, the NSX pivots and provides us with a Type S, the first NSX Type S for the U.S. market. With a $12,000 price increase, the Type S sees a 27 horsepower increase, for a round 600 total. Higher turbo boost (16.1 PSI, up from 15.4) is the primary change. The rear track is widened to better enable putting the power down and handling.

The unique for 2022 Type S body grows two-and-a-half inches in length.

The driver's memory seat and mirrors is discontinued.

Only 350 units, 300 of them for the United States, will be produced.

RDX

The RDX gets restyled for 2022. Overall length grows by over half an inch; all other dimensions are unchanged. Curb weight is up 6 to 28 pounds.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Alexa integration are all now standard. Wireless phone charging is standard on all except base models, where it is a dealer-added accessory.

Blind Spot Information System (BSI) and Rear Cross Traffic Monitor are now standard; the BSI has an extended range to detect approaching cars more reliably. A rear seatbelt reminder detects unbelted rear passengers and alerts the driver.

A new windshield wiper de-icer and power-folding side mirrors are part of the Advance Package. Remote start is no longer standard on all models but can be added on lower models as a dealer-installed accessory.

A-Spec models get a sporty, flat-bottomed steering wheel, and they can now add the Advance Package in order to combine sport with luxury.

The suspension has been retuned for handling, the Active Sound Control and sound insulation are improved, and the Advance Package's Adaptive Damper Suspension offers more variation in damping for more sporty handling or a more comfortable ride, depending on the setting.

200 hand-crafted "PMC Edition" models will be offered in Long Beach Blue Pearl with Orchid Milano leather interiors. These models will be assembled at the NSX assembly plant. The PMC Edition is based on an all-wheel drive A-Spec with the Advance Package.
