The babiest Mercedes finally gets a mean version. The Mercedes-AMG A 35 packs a 302-horsepower turbo 4-cylinder, 4MATIC all-wheel drive and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Mercedes projects a zero to 60 MPH time of 4.6 seconds. Larger tires and brakes round out the improvements to performance.

No changes.

AMG CLA

The all-new redesigned CLA 45 gets 7 more horsepower, an additional gear in its now 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a sidekick: the 302-horsepower AMG CLA 35. All models gain a longer wheelbase, wider track and a lot more passenger space.

Inside the MBUX (Mercedes User Experience) replaces COMAND, with a cleaner touchsreen interface, a much improved voice control systm with "Hey Mercedes" to wake it up, and larger screens. The instrument cluster is all virtual and the touchscreen are both under one piece of glass, making them look like a single unit. We welcome the replacement of the old "Hey, I glued an iPad to your dashboard" design. Ergonomic are enhanced further with the cruise control switches moved to the flat-bottom steering wheel and lighted; gone is the hidden cruise stalk. A new steering wheel-mounted round AMG is optional, with controls for sport tuning, turning off traction control and adjusting the suspension, the new button features changing color icons on its face to indicate the settings.

AMG E-Class

Ventilated front seats, Active Park Assist and Surround View Camera are now standard on E 63 S Sedan and Wagon.

AMG GT

2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro at LA Auto Show

The AMG GT family got a new member for the 2019 model year, the four-door. For 2020 the remaining members get a refresh, including new LED headlights and taillights, new rear diffuser, exhaust tips and wheels. The AMG GT 63 S 4-Door gets a new carbon fiber roof option.

A new, track-ready GT R Pro (above) features manually adjustable suspension and rear wing. The AMG GT R is now offerd in the Roadster body style. The AMG GT S is no longer offered on Coupe or Roadster, now relegated to the 4-Door.

A new front parking camera is standard and helps avoid hanging up on curbs or getting too close to walls.

AMG Drive Unit is a new addition to the steering wheel. An adaptive touch control, it allows on-the-fly changes to suspension settings and more without moving your hands from the wheel. It includes changing, colored displays to present what settings are active. In addition, the cruise control moves off the stubby, unlit stalk and onto the face of the steering wheel, like other MBs have. The dashboard and infotainment screens are also updated.

Ventilated seats are now offered on coupes, too. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard. Enhanced voice control supports more natural commands and can control climate settings, now.

CLA 250

2020 Mercedes CLA 250

The CLA gets a complete redesign for 2020, with a stout chassis, more than an inch longer wheelbase, almost two-and-a-half inches more length, two inches wider, over two inches wider track, this is a much more substantial car more fitting the MB badge on its nose and/or grille. The interior is larger, too, going from an EPA rated sub-compact to a compact rating, front and rear headroom, leg room and shoulder room are all larger, with rear legroom jumping by almost four inches. The trunk is a little snugger at 11.6 cubic feet versus 13.1 on the 2019 CLA.

The engine gets a shot in the arm too, going from 208 horsepower to 221, out of the same size 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo.

What is suprisingly almost unchaged: exterior appearance. The chrome lower bump strip is shorter, the standard headlights are LED and the headlight shape gains a slight point on the top inner corner, but otherwise you'll have to place it side by side with a '19 and maybe peek at the build sticker.

Inside, the old-fashioned ergonomics are gone, leaving cleaner, more luxurious designs, starting with the fully multifuncioned steering wheel that banishes the cruise control stalk. The instruments are also new: a standard 7-inch cluster is linked with black glossy plasitc to a 7-inch touchscreen. In the Premium Package a seemingly seamless expanse links the 10-1/4-inch instrument panel display to the 10-1/4-inch touchscreen. fromt the driver's line of vision thought to the middle of the cabin. A flat-bottomed steering wheel, brushed aluminum pedals and satin aluminum shift paddles are options available for boy racers.

Only one year after a total redesign, the CLS isn't sitting still. For 2020 the CLS gets a new hood with what Mercedes "Power Domes" though they look like two ridges. Usually a "power buldge" is large enough to house additional hardware: velocity stacks, high-rise intake or a supercharger. These ridges are a styling exercise; MB will have to add three more to equal the Crossfire.

An interesting new feature that will interest the Marque's demographic: a Parking Damage Detector is new for 2020.

A new AMG-Line with Night Package combines AMG cues with gloss black exterior trim pieces, 20-inch black wheels and a black headliner.

E-Class

Mercedes E-Class Sedan

AMG units offer a new set of steering wheel mounted control to adjust driving mode and individual characteristics such as steering feel. The buttons can be programmed for what settings they alter and the color monitors on the face of the button will let the driver know what they do and what settings are active. A flat-bottomed wheel is optional on coupe models.

The GLE 400 is upgraded to the GLE 450, with 33 more horsepower and 15 pound-feet more torque from its now inline 3.0-liter hybrid turbocharged 6-cylinder.

GLS
